"To urgently save our Rhino, we intend to kayak the entire length of the
Zambezi River to the Indian Ocean. Our sole objective is to raise,
both awareness and money for their threatened existence"

James Reid and Rielly Travers both 22 years old, are Zimbabwean born and have planned to kayak the entire 2500 kilometres of the Zambezi River to the sea ending in Mozambique. The whole expedition will take us through five countries - Zambia, Angola, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. The two main aims of this endeavour is to one: raise awareness of the rapid decline of both Black and White Rhinocerous in Zimbabwe, and secondly: to aggressively raise money for these endangered species in order to protect them from further extinction. This expedition will take us through some very special places along the Zambezi River such as the Barotse Flood Plains in Zambia, the mighty Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, the world famous Mana Pools and unique Lower Zambezi National Parks. We will also have to cross the expanses of Lake Kariba and Caborra Bassa. Passing on through to the Matusandona National Park - home to just a few remaining threatened Black Rhino, and the Middle Zambezi - once a sanctuary for these great animals. By achieving this we truly hope to help create awareness and funds to contribute to worthwhile projects before the Rhino are gone forever. |
